How to Deliver Stellar Customer Service on Different Social Media Platforms

Customer Service through social mediaIn the digital world, it is uncommon to meet someone without any form of online presence. We’ve all left our mark in the online world – whether through a comment on your favorite article, a status update on Facebook, or an image shared on Pinterest.

Establishing an online presence is inevitable. This is true for business, too. You may have started doing this for your business pages: answering a query on Facebook or acknowledging a direct message on Twitter are just some forms of basic customer service strategies with the help of social media. With these fundamental interactions, step up your customer service delivery on social media with these 3 easy steps:

Maintain a respectful tone, regardless of the situation

With the speed of exchanging messages online, customers can easily share their experience through their personal accounts. This is also true when they post messages, positive or negative, on your official accounts. It’s easy to reply to pleasant messages, but getting negative messages may need a different approach. It would help to have a standard set of replies (more on this in the next point).

Create and updated set of standard replies

The trick to this is thinking of all the possible situations where your client may feel the need to contact you. These are mostly queries and complaints. Keep a standard voice when replying to these messages. It can be an acknowledgement, “Thanks for your message. We are currently processing your order. You will receive a message from our customer service executive regarding this matter. If you have any other concerns, please drop us a line at [email protected]

Study the behavior of your social media contacts.

Are your followers mostly active in the afternoon? Allot an hour or 2 for live monitoring and interaction with them. If you’re really keen to interact, keep yourself updated using your smartphone.

These are just the basic tips that can help you establish customer service practices on your social media pages. Over time, you will find out that you may need to tweak some practices, or completely replace them with something more suited for your target audience. Let us know in the comments section below how you use your social media accounts for customer service!
